Apocalypter Guide

Region 1: Loot Sites

Overview

The Scavenging Backbone

Loot sites are where every Apocalypter run begins: abandoned buildings, vehicle wrecks and caves scattered across the procedurally generated wasteland. The official description sums up the loop β€” scavenge, loot and survive. Buildings carry household supplies and food, wrecks hide car parts and fuel, and caves hold the deeper stashes that reward players who bring a flashlight.

How Navigation Works Here

There is no map. You navigate by compass and landmarks, and the game warns you not to get attached to roads β€” they sometimes lead to nowhere. Learn two or three tall landmarks near your base car and triangulate from them; veteran players describe orientation as the real survival skill in Apocalypter.

Follow roads for easier navigation early on, but check your compass against landmarks before committing to a long drive.

What to Bring on a Loot Run

Storage is the limiting factor on every run β€” roof racks, crates and boxes extend how much you can haul home. A flashlight turns caves from a death trap into a loot stash, and a weapon you trust handles the enemies that guard the better buildings.

  • Roof rack, crates and boxes β€” more storage means longer runs
  • Flashlight β€” required for caves and dark building interiors
  • A melee weapon you trust β€” guns need ammo you may not have yet
